Mini Valentine Cherry Pies
Jump to Recipe
Cherry hand pies are delicious any time, but they’re especially perfect for Valentine’s Day when you shape them into hearts! These are super simple to make by pairing Our Family® Pie Crust and Our Family® Cherry Pie filling together!
Valentine's day is quickly approaching, this recipe would be a great kid-friendly activity to do with your kids. With some help from store-bought products, these are quick, simple, delicious, and heart-stopping (I know, so corny, but these are so darn cute).
I always have a box of Our Family® Pie Crust in the refrigerator. It is such a versatile product to help make a quick dessert, appetizer, or even a top to a chicken pot pie. The Our Family® Cherry Pie filling is ideal for this recipe, it's both tart and sweet and is naturally the color of Valentine's day! Our Family® also makes a Strawberry Pie filling that could be substituted for the Cherry Pie filling. Either would taste and look amazing in this recipe.
This is more of an instructional post than an actual recipe. Since we’re using store-bought products, the steps are just how to assemble the ingredients into hand pies. Life is busy, nothing wrong with taking some shortcuts from the store once in a while. They will never know that these are not scratch-baked pies. Since there are just a few ingredients in this recipe, make sure you purchase high-quality products.
If you’re baking for that someone special, treating your kids, or just craving pie, this is the perfect recipe! I love when a little of the pie filling bubbles out from a seam or out from the mini heart cut-out in the center. Aww come on, these are so adorable!
These are festive wrapped up in a Valentine-themed box, or displayed on a heart-shaped tray to give away as a gift. These are versatile, change the filling to something seasonal, or your favorite fruit filling. Use a shamrock cookie cutter, or a Christmas tree, or hand-cut the dough into squares, or circles. Use this as a guide to create your version of a themed hand pie.
There is still plenty of time to have these ready for dessert tonight! I know my family loves them and will gobble them up quickly any night of the year, not just on Valentine’s Day!
Umm… Mommy, I can’t reach the tray, and you probably won’t let me have them, but they smell delicious, so I will just give you my best doggy sigh and puppy eyes and dream…
Start a new Valentine tradition with your kids, or that special someone with these super easy and super cute mini pies. Make them extra special by sprinkling some cinnamon sugar or sparkling sugar on top before you bake them!
